Tiffany Derry is an American chef based in Dallas, Texas, best known for her appearances on Top Chef and Hungry Investors in 2014. She is featured in the cooking show ‘Top Chef Amateurs’ season 1 as a judge. In ‘Top Chef Amateurs’, she makes a return as part of the ‘Top Chef’ alum to help the amateur cooks by helping them, as they race against time while tackling challenges.
She began her culinary career at the local International House of Pancakes (IHOP) at the age of 15, where she later had a management position. By the age of 17, her leadership skills and business savvy began to form. While still in high school, Tiffany received her seafood training from Houston’s Pesce Restaurant. She graduated from The Art Institute of Houston in 2003 with an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts. After graduation, she became the Executive Sous Chef of Grotto Cucina. The Texas native competed in Top Chef season 7 in Washington, D.C., and won “fan favorite” after placing fifth. She also competed among the All-Star chefs in season 8 and finished fourth as a finalist.

She was featured on an episode of Spike TV’s Bar Rescue in June 2013, and has been featured in a commercial promoting her alma mater, “The Art Institute of Houston”. In 2013, Derry was awarded the Hall of Fame by the Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities. In November 2013, she was the day’s winner on an episode of Food Network’s Cutthroat Kitchen. The chef also began to appear on the Spike TV series Hungry Investors, which debuted in 2014.
She is also working with the Dallas Independent School District to improve their school lunch program in order to provide healthier options. She opened and owns Roots Chicken Shak in Plano in 2017. It has two locations in both Plano and Austin, Texas. Derry, partnering with Tom Foley of T2D Concepts, opened Roots Southern Table in June of 2021 in Farmers Branch, Texas. This is an expansion concept for Roots Chicken Shack. The concept is chef-driven and the menu consists of high-end twists to the classic southern recipes Derry grew up with.
