Gordon McQueen is a retired professional footballer of Scottish nationality. While playing, his position was center-back for Manchester United and St Mirren, Leeds United. He was also a Scotland representative.
His football career started while he was in school as he was the goalkeeper and later moved to centre-back. At the age of 18, he was signed by St Mirren and therefore began monitoring his progress in the field. After a while Leeds United took him in as a replacement for Jack Charlton who was retiring.
In the European cup, he scored three goals but was suspende in the 1975 European Cup Final. In the 1978 FIFA World Cup, he was chosen for the argentinian squad but he did not play as he had an injury. His last match for Scotland that he played was in 1981 and he scored 5 goals and got 30 caps.
He moved to Manchester United in February 1978. He took part in the 1979 FA Cup Final, scoring Manchester United’s second goal in the 86th minute. In 1983, he won the FA Cup Medal. He left Manchester United in 1985.
After he stopped playing, he ventured into coaching abroad and afterwards became Airdrieonians manager shortly then proceeded to be a coach at his initial club St. Mirren. After some time he became a reserve team coach for Middlesbrough and later left to join Sky Sports as an expert.
He made his way back to Boro as a scounts assistant in April 2008 working alongside David Mills.
In his career he got recognition and honours such as; the Manchester United FA Charity Shield of 1983 and the Leeds United European Cup runner up in 1974 and 1975.

He was detected to be having larynx cancer in October 2011 and he immediately started treatment at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. Again in January 2021, he was found to be suffering from vascular dementia.
