Susan de Klerk is the daughter of South African politician F.W. de Klerk who was a South African politician and Nobel Peace Prize laureate who served as state president from 1989 to 1994 and as deputy president from 1994 to 1996. As South Africa’s last head of state from the era of white-minority rule, he and his government dismantled the apartheid system and introduced universal suffrage. Ideologically a conservative and an economic liberal, he led the National Party from 1989 to 1997. He died from mesothelioma on November 11, 2021, in his sleep at his home in Cape Town, at the age of 85.

Her field of expertise is Hand Therapy, with a special interest in measurement and the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health. She is a former teacher in South Africa.
