Maria Mazon is an American food entrepreneur (chef) Founder, Owner, and Executive Chef of her own restaurant BOCA Tacos y Tequila in Tucson, Arizona. The chef was a contestant in season 18 of Bravo television Top Chef that premiered on Thursday, April 1, 2021. She was born in Tucson but raised in Sonora, Mexico. Her food is influenced by both sides of her borderland home. She uses distinct flavors of food and ingredients she gets from the Sonoran Desert. She has been ranked by the New York Times for her hypothetical take on classic Mexican fare.
Through the years, she has worked against all odds as well as going over and beyond the normal cuisines in the market to bring people unique flavors and foreign ingredients. In the year 2020, she became a semi-finalist in the James Beard Award for Best Chef in the Southwest Region. She previously was a participant in the 2018 cooking series – Chopped. When she is not working at her restaurant, she loves cooking and spending time with her family.
