Emily De Vito Biography – Emily De Vito Wiki
Emily De Vito is an American Communications Manager at Capital District Transportation Authority in Albany, New York, United States. She is best known for her previous job as a general assignment reporter, multi-media journalist, and producer at WNYT in Albany, New York. She left WNYT in April 2022. Her job in WNYT-Albany started in September 2017 and since starting as a producer she was been able to transition into what she loves, which is reporting. Being versatile has allowed her to have strong communication with members of the newsroom, improve her writing, and generate creative story ideas. She has been able to cover breaking news, political issues, and human interest pieces. Also, producing two shows on the weekends has given her the opportunity to manage reporters as well as make decisions on what content is pertinent to newscasts.
Before coming to WNYT, Albany, she worked as an anchor and reporter in Binghamton, New York at WBNG for two years. While there, she was granted endless opportunities to improve herself on the anchor desk. It was there that she learned how to be a multi-media journalist and balance shooting, writing, editing, and going LIVE on a tight deadline. She enjoyed reporting breaking news, politics, and health pieces. Her passion for being a multimedia journalist helped her connect with the community through Facebook, Twitter, periscope, and other social media platforms. She deemed it important that her stories reach a community on multiple levels and not just through television.
While still a master’s student, she received the opportunity to go to Washington DC, and report for WTAJ-TV, a news station in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Her packages were aired in that market. She has also had the opportunity to intern with inspiring news stations such as CBS6 in Albany, New York, ABC11 News Station in Durham, North Carolina, and WSYR Channel9 in Syracuse, New York. At these news stations, she was able to go out into the field with reporters daily, generate content ideas for shows, and write scripts for newscasts.
In August 2015 she received an M.S. in Broadcast and Digital Journalism at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She received her undergraduate degree from Elon University in May 2014 and graduated with a B.A. in Media Arts & Entertainment: Broadcast and New media and minors in Dance Performance and Professional Writing. During her spare time, she enjoys exercising and spending time with family and friends. She also likes to spread awareness about organ donation, which has impacted her family greatly.
