Aldo Ortado is a restaurant manager based in Australia. He is known for previously being a contestant in MasterChef Australia series 10 where he was ranked 13th. He was featured as a returning contestant in MasterChef Australia season 14 in 2022. The format is known as Fans & Favourites and features 12 new contestants and 12 former contestants. The season premiered on April 18, 2022. He was eliminated from the cooking show/competition on June 26, 2022. It was his second attempt on the show in which he was also eliminated for the second time.
After leaving school in 2009, he moved to Rome to study statistics (he has a double degree in Business and Economics) and, 4 years later, headed to Sydney, seeking new adventures. He began working front-of-house for an event and catering business, before becoming manager at the Italian restaurant, Giro Osteria in Cronulla.
Following the end of MasterChef Australia series 10, he hoped to open his own café and restaurant, focusing on classic southern Italian food with a relaxed feel during the day, transforming into a fine dining experience at night. He said he wanted the feel to reflect that of his childhood – a place where from the time you step inside, you feel like you have arrived home. He has also taught at Sydney Seafood School.
