Andy Allen is an Australian chef. He became a household name when he won the fourth season of MasterChef Australia in 2012, and for being a judge on MasterChef from 2020. He is the co-owner of the Three Blue Ducks chain of restaurants found in Bronte, Rosebery, and Byron Bay in New South Wales, Melbourne, and Brisbane all in Australia. Before he entered the culinary business, he first was an electrician and also played basketball with the Maitland Mustangs. He also worked as a volunteer in his local basketball stadium. In 2021, he became a co-host in the cooking show Three Blue Ducks. The show puts its emphasis on traveling around Australia to look for new ways of food preparation that will be placed on the permanent restaurant menu.
In order to win the fourth season of MasterChef Australia, he came on top beating the other finalists; Julia Taylor and Audra Morrice in a contest that was presented in three ways. In the final two presentations, he beat Taylor emerging at the top with 76 as Taylor garnered 68. He was featured in one episode of MasterChef Australia All-Stars in August 2012. He later came back in season 11 being a professional Secret Chef but lost the title to Sandeep Pandit in an Immunity Pin Challenge. He finalized with 24 points as his opponent (scored 30).
It was announced in October 2019 that he would be one of the three new judges in Masterchef to replace George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan, and Matt Preston. Besides Christine Ha and Claudia Sandoval from the use, he is the third former contestant and winner worldwide to be a regular judge on the show.
