Becca Habegger is an American journalist, Emmy-award-winning nominated reporter, and member of the news leadership team at ABC10 in Sacramento, California specializing in general assignment reporting. She is a senior reporter at ABC10 – a role she took up in November 2021. She became part of the ABC10 team in June 2017. She previously worked at ABC10’s sister station WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee. While working there, the Tennessee Associated Press named her “Best Reporter of 2016.” Her work also earned her several awards from the East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists. Young Professionals of Knoxville named her an “Outstanding Young Professional” in 2016, for both her on-air work and community involvement – including as a “Big” for Big Brothers Big Sisters of East Tennessee.
Her news coverage has ranged from deadly wildfires and the roll-out of the legal cannabis industry in California to politics and K-12 education topics. She is a Minnesota native, who graduated from the University of Missouri School of Journalism with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Sociology. Her first job had her reporting for KWWL-TV in eastern Iowa. When she’s not telling stories on Television and online, she can be found exploring the Sacramento area on foot or by bike, with her husband Frank, and their dog. She loves getting involved in her community through the Junior League of Sacramento.
She went on to study at the University of Missouri- Columbia graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalist with a minor in Sociology.
