Elizabeth Gardner is an American meteorologist working at WRAL-TV since 1998. She is based in Raleigh, North Carolina. Prior to joining WRAL-TV for work, she was a television weather anchor at KXLY-TV, Spokane, Wash from 1995 to 1998. Prior to that, she had been at WECT-TV, Wilmington, North Carolina as a meteorologist from 1994 to 1995. From 1990 to 1994 she had been working as a reporter at WGHP-TV, High Point, North Carolina.
In the 1998 occurrence of Hurricane Bonnie, she was the first journalist to cover the event while in a hotel and experienced it first on hand. The following year in 1999, she also came in contact with Hurricane Floyd while on an office building floor near Charleston. She narrated the event and even said the roads were not easy to navigate as they headed back to North Carolina. She has been awarded the Regional Emmy for Best Weathercast in 2001, and an Emmy nomination – weather anchor in 1998. She is also recognized as a Certified Meteorologist by the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association Seal of Approval.
She went on to study Bachelor of Science in Geosciences in 1997 at Mississippi State University, Mississippi State, Mississippi. She also undertook a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, in 1989, at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and St. Mary’s College, in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1987.
