Heather Waldman is an American meteorologist and climate change reporter for KRCA 3 and My58 Television in Sacramento, California. She joined the network in December 2021. Waldman is a AMS Certified meteorologist, a Regional Edward R. Murrow and NY State AP Award winner. She was also Emmy-nominated as a climate science communicator. Prior to her current role, she was an evening meteorologist for the NBC affiliate – WGRZ in Buffalo, New York. She was working as a weekend meteorologist on WGRZ-TV Channel 2 News. She was there between January 2017 and left in September 2021. Correspondingly, she has appeared on Fox Business, ABC World News, The Big10 Network, ESPN, and the SEC Network.
She has previously worked at AccuWeather as a forecasting intern (2013) and as a broadcast meteorologist (2014-2016), Sony (2013), and NBC 10 – WCAU IN 2012. She relocated to the Buffalo area in January 2017 after spending three years broadcasting the national forecast with The AccuWeather Network in State College, Pennsylvania.
She received her CBM from the American Meteorological Society in 2014 and then her Broadcaster Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association in 2015. She is a full-time member of both organizations. In 2018, she won an Edward R. Murrow Award in Innovation for her work on a story that relived Buffalo’s infamous “Blizzard of ’77”. Being a self-declared “weather geek”, she also produced a weekly weather segment for WGRZ’s social media pages called “Heather’s Weather Whys” where she answered viewer questions about all things weather every Wednesday evening. She is a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in meteorology and telecommunications.
