Janusz Domagala referred to as Janusz is a Polish-born citizen and a personal assistant to a head teacher in East Sussex, England. He is a contestant in series 13 of the British television baking show the Great British Bake Off. The show premiered on Channel 4 on September 13, 2022. It will be aired on Netflix every Friday for ten weeks. The first episode on Netflix will go on air beginning Friday, September 16, 2022, until November 18, 2022, when it will conclude. He will be contesting against 11 other bakers to be the ultimate baker of series 13.
Besides baking, Janusz’s passions include internet culture, watching drag, and collecting movie props. His inspiration for baking was prompted by his mother, who always baked on a Saturday, a tradition he continued when he moved away from home to go to university. He describes his baking style as “cartoon-like, colorful, and camp.” He often works with Polish ingredients and transforms the outcome into British staples. His favorite flavors are ginger and chocolate.
In the first episode, he became the start caker on bake week. He described his cake on an Instagram post, “My showstopper of the house I grew up in has three sad sides with grey miserable weather and a muddy garden but the side my flat is on it lit up by my mum’s beautiful flowers I could see when walking home from school…”
