Kaelan Lockhart of Warana is a PhD student at QUT Centre for Robotics. She is a contestant from Australian Survivor: Brains v Brawn II. He also took an attempt to become the first Australia to ski the length of Norway in winter 2024.
After graduating from University of Queensland (UQ) with first-class honours and a double-degree in electrical engineering and physics, he worked for a year at Helimods, where we customised helicopters and small aircraft for special missions.
During this period, he most enjoyed automating tasks, and is passionate about preserving the environment, he was looking for a PhD position to combine both of these interests.
I always wanted to be an electrical engineer in Antarctica, so when I saw the PhD position advertised by Professor Felipe Gonzalez for designing a UAV to map vegetation in Antarctica within the SAEF project, it was perfect.
He competed as a professional stand up paddle boarder, achieving a fifth-place finish at the ICF World Titles in 2022.
Growing up playing rugby, surfing and even becoming a professional stand up paddleboarder he believes that he is suitable for Survivor.

The Brisbane-based student Kaelan Lockhart, is a contestant on the twefth season of Australian Survivor: Brains V Brawn II. He forms part of the Brains team.

He said in an inerview with 10play.com, “People often misconceive me based on my appearance and the way I talk. If I’m with the Brawn tribe, I’m going to be talking about footy and sport, and then with the Brain tribe, I can talk about literature, get a bit deeper.”
Growing up on the Sunshine Coast, Kaelan is used to the outdoors and says, “I’ve lived in a tent for extended periods, I’ve slept on the beach, I’ve lived in a van so doing the surviving part won’t bother me. I can go without sleep, food and can perform under pressure.”
Citing Hayley as his favourite player from Brains v Brawn in Cloncurry, Kaelan wants to play her game but also improve on it. While his genuine sweetness will come into the game, he’s also ready to play.
He says, “This is a lifesize board game, how fun is that? As long as you’re in the rules of the game, nothing is immoral. But also, you must judge what people think is immoral, so you still get votes at the end.”
