Kate Bracks born Katherine Jane Bracks (née Pickett) is an Australian reality television cook living in Orange. She is the winner of the third series of MasterChef Australia. The Orange-based chef is known for MasterChef Australia (2009) and MasterChef Australia All-Stars (2012).
Prior to joining the competition, Bracks, mother of three children, was previously a school teacher. She lives in Orange, New South Wales, and attends Orange Evangelical Church. While on the reality television cooking show, she adamantly refused to call the Dalai Lama “Your Holiness”, saying that “My belief is that God is the only one that is perfectly holy.” Her stance attracted media attention in India.
She has traveled the country as an ambassador for the Cancer Council’s Eat It To Beat It program. “The life experiences have been more rewarding than the prize money,” she said in an interview. The celebrity chef has also bought a hobby farm in Orange, New South Wales.
“We don’t eat off the land entirely, but the ultimate goal would be to do more of that.” In 2012 she published a cooking book called The Sweet Life.
