Manuel “Manny” Barella is currently the Culinary Director at Camp Pickle and Jaguar Bolera, based in Denver, Colorado. He is a contestant on the 21st season of Top Chef.
Barella’s culinary journey began in Mexico, where he made the bold decision to leave law school and pursue his true passion by enrolling in culinary school. After completing his culinary education, Manny immigrated to the United States.
His culinary skills led him to prestigious positions at renowned establishments such as the luxury Sea Island Resort in Georgia and esteemed Napa Valley venues including Calistoga Ranch, Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen, and the Michelin-rated Solage Resort. He then made his mark in the Denver restaurant scene.
Barella’s roles included Chef de Partie at the award-winning Frasca Food & Wine in Boulder, Sous Chef at Uchi Denver, and, most recently, Executive Chef and Partner at Bellota in Boulder and Denver.
Now, Barella’s culinary journey has come full circle as he takes on the role of Culinary Director for Camp Pickle and Jaguar Bolera. In this capacity, he will oversee all menu development, continuing his commitment to cuisine rooted in tradition and authenticity.
In addition to his role at Angevin & Co, Barella serves as President of the Hispanic Chefs Association, where he leads efforts to promote Hispanic culinary culture and mentor aspiring professionals in the industry. His dedication and talent were recognized when he was named a James Beard Award Semifinalist in 2022.
