Martel Maxwell is a Scottish radio and television presenter, writer, and journalist. She is a co-presenter of the BBC 1 Property Show, Homes Under the Hammer a role she started in 2017 after replacing Lucy Alexander. She was born on March 9, 1977, and was brought up in Dundee Scotland. She went on to study at the High School of Dundee later joining the University of Edinburgh to pursue a course in law followed by a postgraduate diploma in law at the University of Dundee. However, she did not pursue a career in law and made an application to be a graduate trainee with The Sun. Upon her being accepted, her career in journalism then kicked off.
She started by being a graduate intern for The Sun while undertaking a diploma in a newspaper Journalism course at London City University. While working with The Sun, she worked as a showbusiness reporter, and women’s news, and also did city reports for seven years before eventually turning to freelance.
