Michelle Miller is an American journalist and the co-host of Saturday This Morning. She joined the network in July 2018. She also works with the CBS Evening News and CBS Sunday Morning team. Previously, she has been a correspondent for the CBS news segment 48 Hours. She became part of CBS News in 2004.

She was born in Los Angeles, California, United States, and later studied at Howard University for her journalism degree. She also studied in Kenya and her neighboring country Tanzania. Additionally, she holds a master’s degree in urban studies from the University of New Orleans. She relocated to New York City after her studies and landed her first job as a national correspondent and a fill-in anchor for BET Nightly News.

Miller has also worked with the Los Angeles Times, the Star Tribune in Minneapolis as an intern, ABC News “Nightline” in Washington, D.C, WWL-TV in New Orleans, S.C; the Orange County Newschannel and WIS-TV reporter and weekend morning anchor in Columbia, South Carolina. She is a founding member of the Women’s Leadership Initiative for the United Way of New Orleans and has served on the March of Dimes National Communications Advisory Council. Miller is a member of the Board of Advisors at Hampton University’s Scripps Howard School of Journalism and the Greater New York Chapter of the Links, Inc., as well as a board member for the School of American Ballet. Previously, Miller served as vice president of the YWCA of Greater New Orleans and president of both the Black Journalists Association of Southern California and the New Orleans Association of Black Journalists.

Miller has also participated in the Poynter Institute, was a Hitesman Lecturer at Louisiana State University’s Manship School of Mass Communication, a guest panelist for the Annual H. Raised largely by her father and her paternal grandmother, Michelle had no knowledge of the woman whose genes she shared. Then, fate intervened when Michelle was twenty-two. As her father lay stricken with cancer, he told her, “Go and find your mother.”

Her memoir Belonging is the chronicle of her decades-long quest to connect with the woman who gave her life, to confront her past, and ultimately, to find her voice as a journalist, a wife, and a mother.
