Nurit Wilde is an Israeli-born photographer and socialite. She was an occasional actress in the 1960s and 1970s and was closely associated with the creative community of that era in the Laurel Canyon neighborhood of Los Angeles. She is also known for her work on The Byrd Who Flew Alone: The Triumphs and Tragedy of Gene Clark (2013), Breaking the Band (2018), and Laurel Canyon: A Place in Time (2020).
She was born in Israel, went to Canada, and then New York City where she became friends with the Lovin Spoonful and half (Denny & Cass) of The Mamas & the Papas. In Los Angeles, she did lights for the Troubador and Whiskey A-Go-Go. She shot to the limelight and gained publicity in the Laurel Canyon scene.
Among her photographic subjects were the Monkees, with whom she guest-starred (uncredited, but with notable roles) in two episodes of their television series. She is the mother of Michael Nesmith’s third child, Jason. The Lovin’ Spoonful song “You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice” was inspired by Wilde, per bassist/songwriter Steve Boone.
