Richard Buckley was a fashion journalist and former editor in chief of Vogue Hommes International. He is also known for being the partner of Tom Ford who is an American fashion designer and filmmaker. Ford launched his eponymous luxury brand in 2005, having previously served as the creative director at Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent. Ford wrote and directed the Academy Award-nominated films A Single Man (2009) and Nocturnal Animals (2016). He currently serves as the chairman of the Board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Buckley’s career started at New York Magazine in 1979 and continued at Women’s Wear Daily, Vanity Fair where he was based in New York, Mirabella, and Vogue Hommes International being based in Milan. In 1999 he was named editor in chief of Vogue Hommes, based in Paris, a position he held until 2005. During his many years in newspapers and magazines, his editors included John B. Fairchild, Tina Brown, and Grace Mirabella, until he was named editor in chief himself of Vogue Hommes International in 1999.
