Seraphina Watts is a celebrity child and the daughter of the late English drummer Charles “Charlie” Watts and her mother Shirley Ann Shepherd. Her father was an English musician who was the drummer for the rock band The Rolling Stones from 1963 until his death. He passed away at the age of 80 on August 24, 2021, while in a hospital based in London. He was one of the band’s core members and performed on all of their studio albums. He cited jazz as a major influence on his drumming style.
Her father initially trained as a graphic artist, then became interested in jazz at a young age and joined the band Blues Incorporated. He also started playing drums in London’s rhythm and blues clubs, where he met Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, and Keith Richards. In January 1963, he left Blues Incorporated and became part of the Rolling Stones as a drummer, also working as a designer of their record sleeves and tour stages. His first public appearance as a permanent member was in February 1963, and he remained with the group until his death in August 2021. Watts, Jagger, and Richards are the only members to have been featured on all of the band’s albums.
Aside from his career with the Rolling Stones, he toured with his own group, the Charlie Watts Quintet, and appeared in London at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club with the Charlie Watts Tentet.
