Trevor Strnad was a founding member of the four-member band, The Black Dahlia Murder, that first released music back in 2001, and their most recent release, their ninth album titled Verminous, was released in 2020. The Black Dahlia Murder was named after the 1947 unsolved murder of Elizabeth Short, often referred to as Black Dahlia. The group started in 2000 with Trevor as a founding member and the line-up being finalized in 2001 – the same year they released their debut EP What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse.
Their first full-length album, titled Unhallowed, was released in 2003, and their ninth album, Verminous, was released in April 2020. As the years went on the band was faced with a number of lineup changes. Up until his death, it was Strnad and guitarist Brian Eschbach who were the last of the original members. Along with Eschbach, the surviving members also include bassist Max Lavelle, drummer Alan Cassidy, and lead guitarist Brandon Ellis. The band was due to perform this summer at the Dynamo Metalfest festival in the Netherlands on August 3, 2022. The release is a live DVD Yule ‘Em All on July 1 via Metal Blade.

Sharing a blank screen, the post stated: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor Scott Strnad. Beloved son, brother, and Shepard of good times, he was loved by all that met him. A walking encyclopedia of all things music. He was a hugger, a writer, and truly one of the world’s greatest entertainers.“His lyrics provided the world with stories and spells and horror and whimsy. It was his life to be your show.”
Fans and followers expressed their shock and sadness with musician Phil Bozeman among those reacting, writing: “This is terrible news. My condolences to all of you and his family.”
While guitarist Nick Hipa wrote: “Devastating loss of an incredibly talented and wonderful human being. Love and condolences to you all.”
