Anne Nhira was an African actress, model, talent manager, and film producer from Zimbabwe. She was best known in the early 2000s in the soap opera dubbed Studio 263 portraying the character Vimbai Jari. She passed on, on March 11, 2021, as a result of injuries inflicted on her during a robbery at her home in Bedford View, South Africa. Her earliest presence in the film industry was in 2002 as she was cast as the main actress in Studio 263. After that, she took a break for a period of five years and went back to the screens in 2013 appearing on the South African film “The Rapist.” Subsequently, in that years she also was cast in “Ndafunga Dande” a soap of Zimbabwe and South Africa’s collaboration. She was a member of the team that coordinated the project. In 2013, she was also one of the judges of the 2013 Miss Zimbabwe/South Africa. In 2014, she took part in on MNet and SABC soap dubbed Zabalaza and also was cast in the drama Mutual Friends of South African origin.
Nhira also tried her luck in music and released a single, “The One” in 2013. She also participated in Acoustic Night in 2013 which was a talent search performance. Among her other interests was venturing into business. She set up Anne Studios Internation- a company that oversees scouting and training of talent. Her company also does modeling activities, film production as well as managing various artists. Besides her business, she also served as the Regional Coordinator of a South African company specializing in Information Technology.
In 2017, she raised her concerns over the Zimbabwean authorities for inviting South African-based dancer and socialite Zodwa Wabantu on stage during an event at Harare International Carnival. Nhira condemned the dancer for posting almost nude pictures on her social media pages as well as her performance without wearing inner clothing. She proposed that the performance should have been given to a Zimbabwean national instead. Her post on Facebook read, “In this case, Zodwa dances with no panties and posts naked pictures on social media. How does that qualify her to be a Zimbabwe national tourist attraction and to attend a function of the highest stature this year? …we have one of the highest unemployment rates and whatever Zodwa, a South African provocateur who is not even one of the top socialites in South Africa is [sic] getting paid could have gone to another young Zimbabwean woman who has worked tirelessly and does so decently, or a dancer if the intention was that particular? We have dancers and socialites in Zimbabwe who would benefit from this national tourist exposure.”
She went ahead to write to the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Zimbabwe about it. The ministry reverted to her concerns by banning Zodwa from performing in that event. After the ministry’s communication on the ban she posted on the Facebook page her satisfaction with how the matter was handled with urgency.

She died on March 11, 2021, in South Africa. She was 38 years. This was as a result of succumbing to injuries inflicted on her during a robbery at her house in Bedfordview, South Africa. The news was confirmed by her brother Julian Nhira who stated that during the robbery at her house she acted in defense and thus was injured. Her back and lungs were injured resulting in her demise.
As reported by Times Live, her brother, Julian Nhira, in a statement said, “She sustained injuries on her chest area, rib cage and back during a robbery on Monday afternoon.”
