Cheryl McHenry is an American Journalist working as a news anchor at WHIO-TV, in Dayton, Ohio. Prior to joining WHIO – TV, she was an anchor at News Center 7’s evening newscasts with Jim Baldridge. She was also a co-host in the Children’s Miracle Network Telethon, which raised money for Dayton Children’s Hospital. She is also an emcee for quite a number of events every year that include the Dayton Defense Education Gala, the Hundred Club, and the United Way Big Thanks Volunteer Breakfast, which gives recognition to police officers and firefighters who go above and beyond and provides scholarships to children of those who die during their public service.
Twice in her career, she was also honored as Best Anchor by the Associated Press and once by the Society of Professional Journalists between 2007 and 2012. In 2007, she was honored with induction to the Radio/Television Broadcasters Hall of Fame of Ohio, Carroll High School’s Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame, and the Dayton Area Broadcasters Hall of Fame. She started her grade school studies at St. Helen’s based in Riverside, formerly known as Mad Rive Twp and after finishing grade school she went to Carroll High School. She was enrolled at the University of Cincinnati from where she went ahead to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcasting. After getting her broadcasting degree, she went ahead to WKRC Radio and became an intern and applied her college learnings, and gained much and quality experience in her career.
