The one-time model decided her elevation from Shorty guest star to permanent cast member was the right time to speak out about the eating disorder that has plagued her for much of the past eight years. “It’s just insane the number of times I’ve had the conversation with people about body image, about not feeling good enough and constantly comparing themselves to other people,” says Louise, who has revealed publicly that she has struggled with everything from starving herself and over-exercising to binge-eating and purging.
“There are a lot of people that have gone through even worse stories than mine but I’m in the position now where I’m on TV and I probably look like my life is perfect, and that wasn’t the reality.”
Louise says it was her belief that there are many other people going through similar struggles to those she experienced that made her decide to speak out. “If I could help them know that they’re not alone, or encourage them to ask for help – because it is so humiliating and terrifying that it seems impossible to reach out – that was my reason for sharing my story.” Now recovered from her eating disorder, Louise is realizing a long-held dream to be an actor according to Stuff.
