Erin Moriarty is an American Emmy-ward-winning journalist serving as a television news anchor, reporter, and correspondent. She works under CBS Network and has been in the network for over 30 years. Erin is a correspondent for the CBS program 48 Hours Mystery. She is the host of the true-crime podcast My Life of Crime. Besides working in the media, she is also recognized as a lawyer.
The journalist who was born in Cincinnati Ohio attended Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio. She then proceeded to Ohio State University and became a Phi Beta Kappa graduate with a degree in behavioral sciences. Additionally, she is also a sister of Kappa Kappa Gamma and was selected to the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society. She is licensed to practice law in Ohio, Washington, D.C., and Maryland after receiving a J.D. degree from Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in 1977.
After completing her studies, Erin then joined WCMH-TV an NBC affiliate station based in Columbus working as a reporter from 1979 to 1980. Still, in the same station, she co-hosted the local PM Magazine program with Steve Shannon. She then moved to WJZ-TV in Baltimore from 1980-1982 and in 1982 to 983 she worked at WJKW-TV in Cleveland. In the same year 1983, Erin moved to WMAQ-TV in Chicago serving as a consumer reporter for three years.
She joined CBS News in 1986 working as the consumer correspondent for CBS Ths orning and the CBS Evening News with Dan Rather. She became a correspondent for 48 Hours, a CBS News program, in 1990. In collaboration with Nancy Giles, the pair worked on two weekly public affairs radio series under the Giles and Moriarty banner, one for WPHT in Philadelphia in 2003-2004 and another for Greenstone Media in 2007. Both shows were produced at the facilities of the CBS Radio Network.
Erin is also an author. With Paula LaRosa(a CBS News producer), she co-authored “Death of a Dream” in 2008. The book looks into the 2005 homicide of dancer Catherine Woods in New York and the following trial of Paul Cortez. Her current work is narrating episodes of 48 Hours Mystery.
