Ernie Lively (born Ernest Wilson Brown Jr.) was an American actor and acting coach, and the father of actors Eric Lively and Blake Lively. He was best known for his roles in Passenger 57, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. In the latter two films, he played the father of a character played by his own real-life daughter, Blake. He made appearances in a number of TV shows, including Turner & Hooch, The Dukes of Hazard, The West Wing, and The X-Files. His big-screen credits included The Man in the Moon, Passenger 57, Mulholland Falls, and The Beverly Hillbillies.
His daughter made her professional debut in his directorial project Sandman (1998). She starred as Bridget Vreeland in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005) alongside its sequel The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (2008) to commercial success. She appeared opposite Justin Long in the comedy Accepted (2006). She gained recognition for portraying Serena van der Woodsen in the CW drama television series Gossip Girl (2007–2012).
