Maria Marx is a German-born actress and photographer. As an actress, she is known for Love Kills (1998) and Ilsa: She Wolf of the SS (1975) according to IMDb. She is best known for being the ex-wife of Melvin Van Peebles who was an American actor, filmmaker, playwright, novelist, and composer. He was known for creating and starring in the film Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song. Known as the “Godfather of black cinema,” Melvin passed away at the age of 89 in New York City.
In the past, Maria was into visual arts, specifically photography. As a young couple, Maria and her husband decided to move to Europe in the late 1950s and lived for a while in Amsterdam, where Van Peebles was studying astronomy, and then moved to France where he worked as a journalist.
