Mimi Keene is an English actress known for her roles as Cindy Williams in the BBC soap opera EastEnders and Ruby Matthews in the Netflix series Sex Education. She has been nominated for The British Soap Awards as the Best Young Performance in Eastenders in 2014 and in 2015 she was also nominated for Inside Soap Awards as the Best Young Actor in Eastenders.
She started her career as a child actress on stage, making her professional debut playing Janey in Kin at The Royal Court Theatre from 19 November to 23 December 2010. In 2013, Keene was featured in CBBC’s Sadie J as Brandy May Lou and in Our Girl as Jade Dawes. Between 2013 and 2015, Keene was a series regular in EastEnders, playing Cindy Williams.
In 2016, she was cast in an episode of Casualty as Lana Westmore and was the character – Megan in a short film, The Escape, in 2017. Keene also had voice roles for video games, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 1 and 2. In 2019, she portrayed the younger version of Edith Tolkien in Tolkien, started playing Ruby Matthews in the Netflix series Sex Education, and appeared in the film Close.
She trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts from 2009 to 2014.
