Noelle Lambert Biography – Noelle Lambert Wiki

Noelle Lambert is an American paralympic athlete and the founder of The Born to Run Foundation. She runs both on the track and the field and is also a snowboarder. Following a moped accident in 2016, she consequently lost her left leg which was amputated above the knee. The accident occurred during a summer trip to Martha’s Vineyard. At that time she was studying at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and played Division 1 lacrosse on UMass Lowell’s women’s lacrosse team, the Riverhawks. As she recovered from her injuries she discovered that several young amputees lacked funds to obtain specialty prostheses that assisted in sporting activities such as athletics and swimming among other sports.

The realization pushed her to provide assistance to other athletes in the same situation to pursue their dreams and lead functional lives. This prompted her to pioneer the opening of her foundation – The Born to Run Foundation to donate athletic prostheses to young amputees. She also returned to UMass Lowell and rejoined the Riverhawks, scoring a goal on her first game back with the team according to her website.

After graduating cum laude from UMass Lowell in 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Noelle was determined to continue using her athletic abilities and tried out for the U.S. Paralympic team to compete in the 100-meter in Track and Field, a sport in which she had never participated. She chose the 100-meter sprint event and qualified for the USA Paralympic Team. She went on to compete at the World Para Athletics Championships in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in November 2019, where she broke the U.S. women’s record with a time of 16.31 seconds, a fourth-place finish. She had her sights set on clinching a spot to represent the USA in the 2021 Paralympics in Tokyo which was postponed from 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Noelle competed in 2021 at another Track & Field event to qualify for the 2021 Paralympics. In 2020 she became a one-time Paralympian. The 2021 Paralympic Games in Tokyo, beginning August 24 – September 5, 2021, saw her emerge with an American record and 6th in the world.
