Perlina Lau is a New Zealand television presenter and actress known for Friday Night Bites, Flat3, Creamerie, and Unboxed. She is a contestant in Celebrity Treasure Island 2022. The show premiered on September 5, 2022, and the winner will receive NZ$100,000 for the charity of their choice. Celebrity Treasure Island is aired on TVNZ 2 and TVNZ+ from Monday to Wednesday at 7:30 pm. Her charity of choice is Duffy Books in Homes – which aims to inspire young kids to read and succeed!
She studied at Baradene College of the Sacred Heart for her NCEA Level 3 then proceeded to Auckland Univerity of Technology to pursue a Bachelor of Communications, Studio Television. Her career in the media started with Flat3 and Friday Night Bites Web series. Together with fellow actors JJ Fong and Ally Xue, they made three seasons of the flatting comedy, with Lau playing the most straight-talking of the trio. Friday Night Bites, in which she co-starred was nominated for two New Zealand Television Awards. Afterward, Lau became social media presenter and producer on Paul Henry’s morning show, a role which saw her engaging with viewers online during the show’s multimedia simulcast. She left Paul Henry in 2016 for a similar job on TV3 current affairs show Story NZ then became the producer of The Project NZ. In 2018 Lau joined the London team of the channel BBC World News becoming a freelance broadcast journalist. She was based in London, United Kingdom.
Her current job is at Radio New Zealand where she serves as the Worldwatch producer and presenter. She joined the station in September 2020.
