Rico Swavey real name Patrick Fakoya was a Nigerian ex-big brother Naija housemate and entertainer. He had been in the entertainment industry for some time but became popular when he was cast in the reality television show, Big Brother Naija with other housemates for the 2018 – ‘Double wahala’ edition.
He was a graduate of Babcock university in Nigeria where he studied Law.

He wrote in a Twitter post, We lost him, But thanks a lot guys. God knows best. This is how I will always remember you. ” Alongside the caption was a photo of the two of them.
The late entertainer was involved in a ghastly accident on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. On Wednesday, Rico Swavey’s management announced that he was on life support in the hospital. His management posted a video of the crashed car and asked for prayers and support from his fans, via his Twitter handle. He succumbed to death on Thursday.
The former Big Brother Naija housemate was filmed by one of the nurses on duty as he battled for life according to Daily Post. After an unconscious Rico was placed on oxygen while on a chair, the nurses can be heard chatting. One urged them to carry Rico onto the bed. “You people should stop making the video. Somebody is dying, you people are making video”, she scolded her colleagues. The footage sparked anger on social media, with members of the public demanding a probe. Some share similar experiences of negligence in Nigerian hospitals.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced that the authorities had commenced an investigation. “That hospital is not a government hospital; we have started an investigation into the unprofessional conduct of those who appeared in that video,” Omotoso said.
