Tilly Tremayne is a former British actress and the wife of the late Trevor Peacock who was best known as a star in The Vicar of Dibley- a BBC comedy series. He died on Monday, March 8, 2021, at the age of 89 as a result of battling dementia-related illness since 2009. Tremayne is popularly known for starring as Dr. Marian Taylr in Coronation Street. She also was cast in Poldark as Ellen. She is also credited for London’s Burning, Heartbeat, Casualty, Touching Evil, and Wish Me Luck. In 1974, she also performed at The National Theatre in the skit dubbed The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time.
Trevor had become a household name famous for saying “No, no, no, no…!” in The Vicar of Dibley. He had also ventured into songwriting, stage performances, radio, television, and film. He was detected to be suffering from Vascular dementia in 2009 which he then suffered slowly. His last performance was in 2015 in a Comic Relief special Vicar Of Dibley. As indicated by The Sun, in the subsequent period of Trevor’s dementia, he made “Trevor Trees” with his daughter Sally. They are mobiles made using sticks in the shape of trees from his garden. The profits made from the trees were forwarded to Alzheimer’s Society.
Upon his death, his family released a statement that said, “Trevor Peacock, actor, writer, and song-writer, died aged 89 on the morning of March 8 from a dementia-related illness.” His daughter Sally said: “As a character actor, he has made so many people laugh for such a long time. Sadly, now he doesn’t understand why people want to come up to him to talk to him or thank him for his work.” Apart from his family many of his fans, friends, and colleagues used different platforms to pay their tributes to the fallen actor. For example, TV channel Gold tweeted: “We are all saddened to learn that Trevor Peacock, who played Jim Trott so brilliantly in The Vicar of Dibley has passed away at the age of 89. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”
