The pair got married on September 4, 1967, at a village church in Suffolk, England — the ceremony having been carefully scrubbed of references to Jesus — and celebrated quietly at the Hare family’s country seat, Little Blakenham, where the viscount kept a gracious estate dubbed Cottage Farm. They have three children together and are also grandparents. They met at a Georgetown dinner party in 1966 when Stephen was a Justice Department aide and she was an assistant to the London Sunday Times’ Washington correspondent.

Joanna Breyer Children

With her husband, they have three adult children: Chloe, an Episcopal priest, Nell, and Michael. Her youngest son followed in the steps of his father and famously ran in 2012 as a Democratic candidate for District 19 of the California State Assembly, however, he lost in the general election to Phil Ting.

Despite having a high-profile father, the children have stayed out of the spotlight over the years as not much information is available on them.

According to The Washington Post, her family is also enormously wealthy, having started the Pearson group, which is a media empire run by Joanna’s older brother, Michael John Hare, the second Viscount Blakenham.
