KJ Apa born Keneti James Fitzgerald Apa is an actor, musician, and also a singer who hails from New Zealand. He also writes songs and plays guitar. His career as an actor started when he took the role of Kane Jenkins in Shorthand Street which is a soap opera that usually went on air in primetime from 2013 to 2015. He went ahead to be the starring in the drama series known as Riverdale portraying Archie Andrews. He has also featured in films like 2020 I Still Believe, The Hate U Give – 2018, and 2017 A Dog’s Purpose.
He portrayed the character, Kane Jenkins, from 2013 to 2015 in the prime-time soap opera Shortland Street in New Zealand. In the year 2016, he acted the role of Archie Andrews in the drama series Riverdale. In the following year, 2017, he took the role of teenage Ethan Montgomery in the film (comedy-drama) A Dog’s Purpose. The film debuted on television alongside Riverdale. He then acted as a replacement in the 2018 drama film The Hate U Give in the place of Kian Lawley. Another role was starring in the film found on Netflix Last Summer as Griffin. The film premiered on May 3, 2019. In 2020, he also took the main role – singer Jeremy Camp – in the romantic drama based on the biography I Still Believe. The film was released in March 2020. An announcement was made in July 2020, that the actor was part of the cast of the upcoming thriller film called Songbird which was created by Adam Mason and, produced by Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes.
He was brought up in a Christian background and said that he is a Christian. In September 2017, he was caught up in a small car accident in Vancouver. His car hit a light pole. This was reported to be a result of him falling asleep while driving after he came out of shooting the previous night. He was not injured as he hit the pole with the passenger’s side of his vehicle. As a result of his acting, he has received awards and nominations for his work such as; 2017 Teen Choice Awards as Choice Breakout Television Star, Saturn Award for Breakthrough Performance in 2017, and the People’s Choice Awards for Male TV Star of 2019 among many others.
